U13 Football Chamionship

Last Monday evening our U13 footballers played their rescheduled game versus Nire in the U13 Football Championship. This game was played in terrible conditions, with driving rain and wind being a huge factor in the game. Having played with the aid of the wind in the first half we went in a half-time leading by 1-6 to 0-3, with the goal coming from the boot of Charlie Murphy. However it looked as if this lead would not be enough as Nire started the second half by adding on a number of points. A Mark Stewart goal kept us in the game, but in the end Nire won out on a 1-11 to 2-6 score line. Next Sunday morning we have our last game in the league section as we travel to play St Olivers.

Under 12 Hurling GO Games

Last Friday evening we hosted Dungarvan in our first game in this year’s U12 Go Games. After a slow start from both teams Ben Aherne flicked in a great opportunist goal, which was followed up with points from Kieran Crawford and Ciaran McCarthy. Dungarvan were finding it difficult to break through our defence with Dean Beecher making two outstanding saves just before half-time. In the second half we continued to play well and a further goal from Ciaran McCarthy and a pointed free from Kieran Crawford ensured we won on a 3-3 to 0-2 score line.

U9 Go Games

Last Tuesday evening we hosted Abbeyside in the U9 Go Games Hurling. With a number of our players still U8 we were well beaten by a stronger Abbeyside outfit. However all our lads enjoyed the game and for many these games have been their first in the Cois Bhride colours, and as they continue to develop will learn and improve each week. Our next game is at home to Dungarvan. The mentors will confirm arrangements by text.

U14 Feile na nGael

Last Thursday evening our U14 hurlers travelled to play Abbeyside in the semi-final of the Feile na nGael. This was a very tough game played between two evenly matched teams. After a very competitive first half the teams went in level at halftime with the Cois Bhride points coming from Dylan Mangan and Daragh Mulcahy. In the second half we went a goal ahead thanks to a great Conor McCarthy goal. However Abbeyside fought back with a goal of their own, and added on two points to ensure that they ran out winners on a 2-5 to 1-6 score line

Sympathy

On behalf of all at Cois Bhride we extend our sympathy to the family of Babs Mulcahy, Ballinaha, Tallow on her recent passing. Babs was Vice President of Tallow GAA Club and was one of the club’s and also Waterford’s most loyal supporters. Babs also had a great interest in Cois Bhride and loved to see the young players develop their interest in the games. Ar dheis De go raibh a hAnam.

Membership

A final reminder to all parents and players that Membership can still be paid to our Treasurer Aidan Ryan or to the mentors/coaches of the juvenile teams. It is important to remember that Membership needs to be paid by players for insurance purposes. Membership is only €20 for a family or €10 for a player.

Champion Your Local Club

Thanks to all our members who contributed tokens to the “Champion your Local Club” promotion in the Irish Independent recently. The club was successful in collecting the required number of 250 tokens. The tokens have been submitted to the Irish independent and we hope to have a response within the coming weeks.

 Child Development Programme

Thanks to those who attended the second session of the Child Development Programme last week in Tallow. The third session will be held in May and it is also hoped that the club will host a Foundation Level Coaching Course as part of this programme.
