Cois Bhride Gaa Notes – Week beginning April 30th 2012

Club Sponsor: Cunninghams Hardware  Tallow

 Under 11 Hurling Tournament:
Last Saturday we hosted Ballina, all the way from North Tipperary,in Tallow.Ballina are coached by Eamonn Power,an ex Tallow Clubman and who now lives in Ballina. They arrived in Tallow at around 12 noon and enjoyed a puck around in the astro turf and ball alley before the game began. The game itself was an exciting and close encounter. We took a while to settle and before we knew it we were 3 goals down, things looked bleak but this team are a great bunch and never gave up,slowly we got back into the game and scored a few goals ourselves,After the first 20 minutes the score was 3-3 to 3-3.The next 20 minutes we hurled great and scored some lovely points and with the help of a breeze we led 4-7 to 3-3.We decided to experiment a little in the last 20 minutes, playing some lads in positions that they were not used to,we continued to play some nice hurling but we even though we tired alot we showed great fighting spirit. When the final whistle was blown after 60 minutes of hurling we emerged victorious on the scoreline of 5-11 to 6-4.Overall this was a great experience for the team and everyone enjoyed themselves, well done to all of them. Panel:A.Walsh,E.Lenihan,D.Power,E.Hurley,M.Dalton,S.Henley,

D.Collins,M.Condon,J.Geary,Lee-Anne Sheehan and Rebbeca Hannah. A big thanks to Eamonn, all his players and all who travelled with him,it was great day and thankfully the weather was good.We enjoyed tea and refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards and thanks to everyone who helped out.We have been kindly invited to Ballina

for a return game so hopefully before the end of summer we will accept the offer. Also a reminder that we play Lismore in the Town & Country League next Sunday 6th May @ 11.30 a.m. in Tallow, all players will be notified by text during the week

 U12 Hurling GO Games
Last Friday evening we travelled to Abbeyside to play the hosts in the U12 Go Games. Short some of our regular players we were well beaten by a physically stronger Abbeyside team. After a bad start

we came into the game with some great points from Kieran Crawford and Ciaran McCarthy. In the second half we continued to fight with Ciaran Hunt scoring a great goal and some of our players putting in some solid performances. Next up is a home game versus Youghal.

U13 Western Football Championship.
For the second Sunday in a row we travelled to Ballinameela to play St Olivers with the winners ensured of a place in the semi-final. However similar to the previous Sunday we were defeated by a stronger team. Playing into the swirling wind in the first half we were just a single point behind approaching half-time before St Olivers scored a goal and a point in injury time. Playing with the aid of the wind in the second half we kicked a number of wides, and St Olivers capitalised by scoring a goal on the break and some points from frees. However we finished strongly with John Walsh scoring a superb goal, but in the
end we ran out of time and exited the championship.
