U11 Town & Country Hurling League

We travelled to Dungarvan last Friday evening to play our first match in this year's Town & Country League. From the throw in our lads hurled briliantly, playing with great spirit and style. The first 10 minutes were very close with only a point between both sides, but then our backs began to take control of the game and we never let Dungarvan settle. We managed to score 1-1 just before half time to lead 2-1 to 0-2 at half time. Playing against the breeze in the second half we knew things were going to be very tough but the lads were fantastic. Ciaran McCarthy was in fine form in midfield scoring some wonderful scores and with our back line stopping everything that Dungarvan threw at us we extended our lead. The lads tired near the end but still continued to give it their all, Dean Beecher made some great saves right at the end of the game to ensure that we got what we deserved, a great win! Well done to all the lads who played. Panel: Dean Beecher,Mark Dalton,Dylan Power,Paudie Heinz,Shaun Henley,Ciaran McCarthy,Eoin Lenihan,William Cunningham,Tom Dalton,Michael Condon and David Collins.

Minor Football:

On Monday evening our Minor footballers made the long trip to Ferrybank to play the hosts in the Minor Football Championship. After a great start with a goal from Colm Roche in the first minute Ferrybank quickly settled and before long began to tack on a number of points. The Ferrybank forwards were fast and skillful and always looked dangerous, and it took three outstanding saves from Tom Harker to ensure that we only trailed by 0-9 to 1-4 at half-time. However in the second half playing against both the hill and the stiff breeze we showed great heart and determination to stay in contention. A great opportunist goal from Alan Curley and points from Colm Roche and Adam Crawford ensured that with only minutes left on the clock we trailed by a point. With time almost up and Cois Bhride searching for an equaliser the ball fell to Adam Crawford who made no mistake in finishing to the top corner of the net. In the end we came away with fortunate 3-6 to 1-10 win which ensures we remain unbeaten and qualify for the knock-out stages of the Championship.

U14 Feile na nGael

Last Thursday evening our U14 hurlers travelled to Bushy Park to play Brickey Rangers in the Feile na Gael hurling. We came away with a convincing win and now play the winners of the Abbeyside/Dungarvan game this Wednesday evening.
