AGM

We held a well attended AGM last Friday evening in the KGK Hall, Knockanore. The meeting began with our outgoing Chairman giving his address, thanking all those who helped to run the club in 2012 and highlighting the current difficulties facing the club as we try to recruit new coaches and mentors. Our Treasurer then gave a detailed account of our finances, which thankfully are very positive due to the contributions of the adult clubs and our sponsors and supporters. The Secretary then reported on the playing year which unfortunately did not yield any silverware in 2012. The meeting ended with the election of officers. After four years our Chairman, Johnny Geary takes a well earned break. We thank Johnny for his time and commitment to the position; however I’m sure he’ll still be involved in the club well into the future! Fortunately in order to provide support to the incoming Chairman, Gabriel kindly agreed to stay on as Vice-Chairman for another year. Now entering his eight year in the position, we believe we now have the longest serving Vice-Chairman within any GAA club!

Chairman – Brendan Ormonde, Vice Chairman – Gabriel Hynes, Secretary – Theresa Clynch, Treasurer – Aidan Ryan, Membership Office – Ann Crawford, Website Officer – Elaine Aherne, Child Welfare Officer – Will Motherway, Coaching Officer – Tim Linehan.

Minor Football

Our Minor Footballers begin their Championship this Sunday at 12 noon when they travel to Ardmore to play the host club St Declan’s. This is a League Style Championship where we will also have games versus An Gaeltacht, Affane and St Carthage’s in the coming weeks.

U8 Indoor Hurling

Our U8 Team were our first team in action in 2013. Last Saturday they travelled to Ballyduff to play in an indoor hurling blitz. We return to Ballyduff again this Saturday morning when we turn our attention to football.

"The Pull" in Knockanore

The comedy play from Half Solid Productions "The Pull" which is based on the fictional Ballybore GAA Club will be appearing in the KGK Hall in Knockanore on this Friday February 8th at 8pm. Tickets are €10 and can be purchased at the door on the night.

Membership

It’s that time of year again when we appeal to all of our club members to pay their Annual Membership. This is especially important for all club players as you will not be insured on the playing field if you are not a fully paid up member. The membership fee has not changed for the last few years, and for 2013 Family Membership is just €20 and €10 for a player.
