Cois Bhride GAA Notes - Sponsored by Cunningham's Hardware, Tallow

U-16 County A Championship

Cois Bhride 1-18 Passage 1-06

We had a good result in the first round of games in the County A Hurling Championship. Passage away mid week is always a tricky prospect but the lads rallied well especially after the defeat the week before to Lismore.

Cois Bhride 5-14 Abbeyside 2-4

We hosted Abbeyside in our second game in the County U-16 Hurling Championship on Monday evening in Knockanore. We played with the wind in the first half and led at half time by 5 points. We got a dream start to the second half getting 2 goals within the first 3 minutes and our lads drove on to win easy in the end. Next up we are away to Sacred Heart on Wednesday August 1st.

Panel. Davie Tobin, Colm Roche, Kelvyn O Farrell, Jake Beecher, Jack Tobin, William Hogan, Tom Harker, Adam Crawford (capt), Ryan grey, Jordan Henley, Eddie Hynes, Jake Neville, Alan Buckley, Padraig Roche, John Paul Lucey, Cathal Geary,  Liam Smith, Dylan Mangan, Darragh Mulcahy, Eoin O’Reilly, Paul O’Mahony and Matty Schiebelreiter.

Minor Hurling

Cois Bhride 2-22 An Gaeltacht 2-05

Last Wednesday evening we hosted An Gaeltacht in the second round of the Minor Hurling Championship. Having suffered a narrow defeat to Brickey Rangers in our first game it was important for us to bounce back with a home win. Playing into the strong breeze we got a great start with points from Rob O’Sullivan and Paudie Aherne. Aided by an Adam Crawford goal before half-time we went into the break leading 1-08 to 0-02. With the aid of the breeze in the second half we continued to dominate and ran out convincing winners thanks to a goal from Ryan Grey and some terrific points from Chris Hartnett. Next up is a home game this Wednesday evening in Tallow versus Portlaw.

Naomh Columcille

Last weekend the Naomh Columcille Club from County Tyrone brought their U14 Team to Tallow for a weekend of coaching and games. On arrival in Tallow on Friday afternoon Cois Bhride hosted a barbeque for the team and mentors, who were no doubt weary from the long journey. After being assigned to their host families the team returned to Pairc Eamonn de Paor where both the U14 teams of Cois Bhride and Naomh Columcille enjoyed a coaching session with former Cork Senior Hurling Manager Denis Walsh. On Saturday Naomh Columcille travelled east where they played Ballygunner before heading to Tramore for some recreation time. On Sunday morning, before returning home, Naomh Columcille played Cois Bhride in a very sporting U14 game. It was great to see the enthusiasm that these young lads had for hurling, especially as they play their hurling in a football stronghold. Well done to all who helped to put the weekend together.

U12 Hurling Blitz

With their trip top Croke Park only a few weeks away the U12’s will play a blitz in Bushy Park next Saturday morning @ 10am. On the morning we will play the hosts Brickey Rangers, Killeagh and An Gaeltacht.

Summer Camp

Last week Cois Bhride hosted its annual Kelloggs Summer Camp in Tallow. In what was probably the best week of the Summer so far with no rain any day the kids enjoyed coaching and games each day. The highlight of the week was the visit on Friday from Waterford County Senior Hurlers Shane Walsh and Liam Lawlor.

U14 Hurling

Next Monday evening our U14s host Cappoquin in the County A14 Hurling Champiuonship.

In August and September we will have Go Games Football will begin for our U11 and U12 teams. Details of the fixtures will be published next week.
