U-16 County A Championship semi final

 Cois Bhride 1-9   Ballygunner 2-14

Our under 16’s were beaten by a physically stronger Ballygunner side in the semi final of the county under 16 championship. Things started bad for us on the day with our fullback Jack Tobin having to pull out with tonsillitis. We started brightly and raced in to a 1-3 to a point lead but Ballygunner got back into the game with a goal followed by 3 points from frees. At half time having hurled better but we went in 2 points down 1-08 to 1-06.In the second half we found it hard to get scores and on a day our wide’s tally started to mount up and the game started to slip away. Ballygunner sealed their victory with an opportunist’s goal 5 minutes from time. They were the better team on the day but playing a semi final against one of the top teams in the county you need everything in preparation to be right but we had a disastrous run with injuries and sickness which didn’t help our cause. With any team with a lot done you have ups and downs through out the year but having pushed these lads like and adult team you would have to be proud of their reaction to it.

I would like to thank everybody who helped out with the team through out the year.
