 Minor Hurling Championship

Our Minor Hurlers defeated Clashmore in the Minor Hurling Championship last Tuesday evening to book a place in the semi-final stages of the competition. Playing with the wind in the first half we raced into an early lead with goals from Kelvyn O’Farrell and Ryan Grey ensuring that we made full use of the elements. Clashmore to their credit fought back in the second half, however the damage was done early on and we ran out easy winners in the end. We were due to play Tramore in our last league game last Sunday morning, however as they were out of contention for a semi-final spot they conceded a walkover. After all games were played in the league section we now face An Gaeltacht in the County Semi-Final this Saturday @ 1pm in Fraher Field. Having been defeated by the same opposition just a few weeks ago we will have a lot to do to reach our first county final in this grade in a number of years. As always, all support is welcome on Saturday.

 U13 Football Championship

It was also a busy week for our U13 Footballers who began the Championship with a narrow win over The Nire last Thursday evening in Tallow. We started the game slowly and but for a fortuitous Eoin McGrath goal just before halftime we could have been well out of the game. However in the second half we improved and a well taken William Cunningham goal put us ahead midway through the half, a lead which we held on to the end despite some sustained pressure from The Nire in the final minutes. We then travelled to Modeligo on Saturday morning and again started slowly, but found a very good Naomh Brid side much more difficult to peg back. In the end we were well beaten but battled back well in the second half and but for some good goalkeeping and some poor shooting on our part we could have been much closer. We now face Brickey Rangers away in our next game next weekend.

 U12 Football League

Our U12 Footballers had a good win over Naomh Brid last Friday evening at home in the U12 Football League. This week it’s the turn of our U11 footballers who had a home game versus Youghal on Monday evening and also face Stradbally at home this Friday evening.

 U16 Football Championship

Our U16 Footballers were defeated by Ballinacourty in the County U16 Football Championship last Thursday evening. Our next game is next Sunday morning away to Gaultier.

Best Wishes

Best wishes to our U16 and minor player John Paul Lucey who was hospitalised after our U16 football game v Ballinacourty last Thursday evening. John Paul sustained a facial injury during the game which required surgery. Hopefully John Paul will make a quick recovery and he’ll be back in action soon.
