Cois Bhride GAA Notes - Sponsored by Cunningham's Hardware, Tallow

Happy New Year

A belated Happy New Year to all our members and players! Hopefully 2013 will be a successful year for our teams as we begin preparations for the year ahead.

Our AGM has been fixed for Friday February 1st at 8.30pm in the KGK Hall, Knockanore. This is an important meeting for the club as in recent years we are finding it more difficult to recruit volunteers and mentors to assist with the running of the teams/club. Unfortunately we are now seeing the knock-on effect as we are being forced to field teams in lower grades and even considering the future possibility of not fielding teams in some grades.

Scor na nOg

Its been a busy couple of weeks for Cois Bhride's Mark Stewart, Ivan O'Neill, Liam Motherway, Ciaran Hunt, Jack Sliney, Oisin Ormonde, Kieran Crawford and Diarmuid Costelloe as they recently won the Novelty Act in this year's County Final of Scor na nOg for their production of "Doctor Hypno". They were back on stage last Sunday in Ovens, County Cork for the Munster Semi-Finals where they were up against the County Champions from Cork (Carberry Rangers) and Kerry (Saint Senans). Once again the lads all put in fantastic performances to qualify for the Munster Final in Mallow on Sunday January 25. Well done to the eight lads and their mentor Will Motherway!

Shamrocks Ladies Football

Just a reminder that the Shamrocks Ladies Football Club have recently formed an underage structure for any girls who may be interested in playing gaelic football. Training has started already for the season ahead and continues this Saturday morning in Knockanore.

It is now mandatory that all players at juvenile level, right up to minor grade wear gumshields when playing gaelic football. This initiative will then be introduced at adult level in 2014.
