Minor Hurling:
Our Minor hurlers played Fourmilewater in the Semi-Final of the County Championship last Saturday afternoon in Cappoquin. In a game that was played in poor conditions due to the persistent rain we were defeated on a score line of 4-11 to 1-13. However the score line could have been much different if we had taken the goal chances that we were presented with in the first half. After going in at half-time trailing by 3-8 to 1-7 we played much better in the second half driven on by Joe Leahy at midfield and some great points from Edward Lonergan. However goals win games and the ability of Fourmilewater to take their goal chances proved to be the difference between the teams in the end. Thanks to all the players and mentors for their time and effort during the year.

U13 Football Championship
It has been a mixed week for our U13 footballers who defeated Affane last Friday evening in the U13 Football Championship on a 4-6 to 2-3 score line. This was followed up on Sunday morning with a 3-13 to 1-4 defeat to Lismore. The score line did not reflect the balance of the game however as we began in a positive fashion and dominated the early exchanges. However this was not reflected on the scoreboard as some wayward shooting in front of goal let us down. Lismore capitalised on this and built up a lead which we found difficult to claw back. We have two games remaining in this championship versus Kilrossanty next Sunday morning @ 11.30am in Tallow and against Ardmore the following week. We need to win both games to remain in the championship.

Primary Schools Football
Last Thursday afternoon Scoil Muire NS Tallow and Knockanore NS met in the Western Primary Schools Football Championship in Knockanore. This is the first time in recent years that both schools have met in a competitive game. Both teams consisted of almost all Cois Bhride players, who regularly line out together for the Cois Bhride U12 and U13 teams. The game proved to be very competitive, with bragging rights at Cois Bhrdie training at stake! In the end Tallow NS, aided by a Thomas Forbes goal, won by the minimum margin on a 1-7 to 1-6 score line. Both teams can take great credit from a very sporting game.

Congratulations to the Tallow Senior Hurling Team who defeated Ballyduff in the County Semi-Final last Saturday, qualifying for the club’s first senior final since 1985. Tallow will go into the County Final as underdogs against a Ballygunner side who defeated current champions De la Salle in their semi-final.

Child Welfare Course
It is now mandatory that all coaches of underage teams complete a Child Welfare Course. A course is scheduled to be held in Lismore on October 19th from 7pm – 10pm. All coaches are encouraged to attend. More details next week.

Football Training
Training continues this Friday evening for all U6 -U12 players in Tallow GAA Pitch @ 7pm. Training for the month of October will be football for all age groups.
