U16 Hurling

Last Thursday evening we played Ballyduff Lower in the U16 County Semi-Final in Bushy Park in what turned out to be a very tough and physical game. Both teams were slow to settle with all of our scores in the opening stages coming from placed balls from Ryan Grey. However Ballyduff were also accurate at the other end with their forwards causing us lots of problems and as a result we led by the minimum margin at half-time on a score line of 0-08 to 0-07. On the resumption Ballyduff scored three unanswered points in the opening minutes to lead by two points. However we responded with the point of the game from Davy Tobin as he shrugged of a number of challenges before rifling over a terrific score, which gave the whole team a lift. We then added a further two points from frees before we were harshly reduced to 14 players for the last ten minutes of the game. With the extra man Ballyduff threw everything at us in the final minutes and it took some great goal keeping from Robbie Geary and heroic defending from Jake Beecher and Jake Neville in our fullback line to prevent Ballyduff scoring an equalising goal. At the full time whistle we held out for a deserving 3 point win on a 0-13 to 0-10 score line to book our place in the County Final against Cappoquin. The County Final has been fixed for next Saturday @ 12pm in Fraher Field or Walsh Park. (Depending on the result of the Div 2 Semi-Final on Tuesday evening.) We will go into the final as underdogs against a strong Cappoquin team who have defeated the current County Champions Dungarvan, recorded a remarkable comeback against De la Salle in their Quarter Final and beat a fancied Lismore team on route to the County Final. We wish the Cois Bhride team the best of luck in the County Final, and as always, all support is welcome!

U14 Hurling

Our U14 team also qualified for the County Final on July 6th having defeated Passage last week in the semi-final in Dungarvan. We ran out convincing winners on the night on a 7-11 to 1-02 score line. However Passage had only won their Quarter Final the previous evening and picked up some injuries with the result that their performance was not a true reflection of the results which they had achieved to get to the semi-final stage. However to our credit we played some great hurling on the evening and since losing the Western Final to St Olivers in early May we have grown in confidence in every game since. We had some great performances on the night with Dean Beecher making the transition from goal keeper to corner forward chipping in with 2-03 and Darragh Buckley continuing his fine form with some excellent goals. In the County Final we face a Tramore side which we narrowly beat in the league section but who have won all their games since. The game is fixed for July 6th, details of the time and venue next week.

U11 Town & Country League

Last Wednesday evening in Knockanore we hosted Ballyduff who were undefeated to date in this competition. Ballyduff got off to a quick start and scored the opening point in the first few minutes. Cois Bhride soon settled and within 5 minutes Kevin Mulcahy pounced for his first of 5 goals of the evening. This was a great team performance from the lads with all players giving a superb account of themselves. A highlight of the game was the excellent goal keeping of Cathal Hunt who denied Ballyduff goals on a number of occasions. We also had great contributions from Padraig Hynes, Mark Dalton and Eoin Linehan who chipped in with points that saw us run out winners on a score line of 5-05 to 1-05. This was a very enjoyable evenings hurling indeed with the win putting us on top of the table along with Ballyduff, so the last series of games scheduled for Friday next will decide group winners. Our game is at home to Cappoquin. Team: Cathal Hunt, Eoin Hurley, Darragh Spillane, Mark Dalton, Jake Chambers, Josh Geary, Shane Martin, Padraig Hynes, Eoin Linehan, Tom Dalton, Cian Hurley, Josh Sheehan, Kevin Mulcahy

Minor Hurling Championship

Our minor hurlers begin their Championship next Wednesday July 3rd with a home game versus Portlaw.
